Inspired by a trip along the Hana Highway in Maui, this painting reminds me of a primordial time long before humanity evolved into being here on Earth; a time of rich lushness, natural abundance and raw creative impulse blossoming into fresh new life forms. As I gazed at the lone flower framed in the succulent foliage of Hawaii’s fecundity, I felt all fear drop away and my heart open widely as though I were the first human ‘flower’ to step onto the planet, in love with this glorious place, this ‘little blue planet third from the sun’. I am so grateful for wild places throughout the world where we can step out of time and person and into the mystery of creation.
