I began this painting as a gift for my first spiritual teacher, however as the painting unfolded, I felt the love of myriad nature spirits and elementals showing up to introduce themselves and awaken my awareness of their existence. I went on to paint a different subject for my teacher, but I always enjoy the dimensional exploration of this painting and delight in finding new faces and beings that I did not ‘enhance’. It reminds me that our seen world of the five senses is but one of many dimensions or realms of existence on the Earth. When I can become like the spirit horse gazing with gentleness and observant stillness into the fluid nature of things, I find my heart opening…. invoking the love, compassion and joy of the natural kingdoms for each of us as we love them back.
