Om Mani Padme Hum – There is a Jewel in the Heart of the Lotus

During treks and service trips to the Himalayan regions of Nepal and Far Northern India, I heard this ubiquitous chant in the most remote places.  From mothers cooking over smokey fires with baby swaddled close in, monks chanting in cliff side monasteries, drivers careening up terrifyingly crumbled, impossibly narrow, dirt mountain roads… but what did it mean to me?

This little painting reminds me that in the depth of my heart, each heart, is this Jewel, God Spark, Buddha within.  As the petals of this pink rose naturally unfold, I feel myself unfolding organically to shine more and more of the authentic essence of the Light.  May this Jewel bring a smile, reflecting your own shining heart back to you.
