In the high Andes grows the sacred cactus known as San Pedro. Over 30 varieties have been catalogued, some growing as tall as 40 ft. Their blooming cycle is variable, but when they bloom it is quite a show, as the flowers grow up to 9 inches in diameter. This plant has been used by traditional Andean shamans in their sacred healing ceremonies for over 3,000 yrs. Legend has it that just as St. Peter holds the keys to heaven, so the healing medicine of the San Pedro allows one to reach heaven while still on Earth, thus inspiring New Beginnings.
